Hi, I am Jon, and I’m from San Francisco, CA. I wanted to share my dance success story with you. I’m no natural born salsa dancer or anything like that. I’m just a guy who discovered a simple system to learn to dance extremely fast that works better than anything else I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried quite a lot). It doesn’t matter what type of dance you want to learn or where you live… All the top-rated dance classes I tried were nothing in comparisson to this new method I tried. Hopefully my story inspires you to get the same results as me…

I hope my story can help you not just to learn to dance, but also stay healthy, and feel better about yourself. In the past, I’ve really struggled with my dance skills, and I know the frustrating feeling of being unable to shake off one of my two left feet. But less than 10 weeks ago, I realized a method that’s just so easy and simple that anyone can do it, and anyone could have thought of it… It was so obvious! Staring me right in the face the whole time!

By complimenting my salsa classes at the local dance studio with instructional salsa dance videos, I found that I could double my learning speed as well as my skills. Not only did I become a tighter and more elegant dancer, I also felt more comfortable and confident when social dancing in the clubs. Since then my life’s completely changed. Recently, I’ve been the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been! By using videos from DanceCrazy and The Dance Store I totally revolutionized the way I practiced, learned, and progressed as a dancer.

It’s pretty obvious, but it seriously works wonders. And if you haven’t gone to classes and then watched and practiced with an instructional dance video, then you’re only preventing yourself from being the best dancer you can be.

Does anyone know any really good dance studios that offer Jazz Funk?

I’ve been wanting to join a dance studio with some really good jazz funk classes near Gurnee or northern Chicago. I haven’t been able to find one though. Does anyone know any dance studios or performing arts centers?

I don’t live anywhere near you, so I’m not sure if I can be much help, but I can try hahaha…
When I typed ‘jazz funk dance gurnee’ and ‘jazz funk dance northern chicago’ into Google, not many results came up. But I’ve found quite a few places where you can take jazz.

STUDIOS IN GURNEE:
1) Dance Theatre of Northern Illinois – http://www.dancetheatre-ni.com/index.html – This studio offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop and pointe. Boys only and girls only classes are offered in ballet, tap and jazz.
2) Rhythm Academy of Dance – http://www.rhythmacademy.com/ – This studio offers classes in Highland dance, ballet, poms, salsa, hip hop, jazz and tap.

STUDIOS IN NORTHERN CHICAGO:
1) Lou Conte Dance Studio – http://www.hubbardstreetdance.com/lcds_home.asp – This studio offers classes in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, African, hip hop, Zumba, BeMoved, Pilates, yoga, musical theatre and more.
2) 3rd Street Dance & Theatre Academy – http://www.3streetdance.com/index.html – This studio offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and modern/lyrical.

Sorry if I’ve screwed up the locations of any of those. If I were you I would go to Lou Conte Dance Studio, it sounds like the best one. I’m really sorry I couldn’t find you more!

Is it bad to go to two different dance studios at the same time?

For example if you want to take two classes at one dance studio and three classes at another dance studio on different days? Would that be bad like you’re betraying your studio or something?

It shouldn’t unless you are taking ballet and are a beginner. If the style of ballet being taught is different it could be confusing. Check to see if they are the same style. If they are then you should have no problem. (Vagonova, Balanchine, French, Cecchetti etc.) It shouldn’t matter for any other type of dance.
Betraying your studio? You are paying money to learn how to dance. Better small studios even send their students away to ballet academies when they have outgrown the training in the smaller studio. The ones that hold students back are just in it for the money. They shouldn’t care if you go elsewhere too, if they don’t have the classes for you that you need.

*When you reach a certain level of ballet, it is a good idea to start experiencing different styles of ballet. That is the reasoning behind Summer Intensives. You get to work with different teachers and different styles.

What does it take to open up a dance studio?

I want to open up a dance studio but I don’t know where to start. Any ideas?

Start small. Borrow or rent a space and offer a few classes. As you get more classes, lease your own space.

A community center might have space that you can use one or twice a week (possibly for a fee).

Word will get out, and you will grow.

But don’t just sit back and wait for word to get out. You have to get the word out with flyers and ads.

Don’t just lease your own space and think you can fill it unless you have a lot of money to spend on rent and advertising.

What kind of floors do dance studios use?

I’m planning on changing one of rooms to a dance studio, it’s 11ft 8 inches by 10 by 8 inches so i believer i have more than enough room, I was wondering though what type of flooring should i use?

at my studio we have marley floor that need to be cleaned and waxed every year, and they are elevated but every nice.

Your instructor may give you the checksheet, but if you’re looking for the breakdown book, they guard those things closely. The chain studios aren’t open like DVIDA. The checksheet lists the names of the figures, but they tend not to be very revealing. For instance, one of the bronze tango figures is named La Cumparsita, which is the title of an old tango standard bit of music, but tells you nothing about the figure. I’d suggest you keep a journal and write them down as you learn them. When I was a FADS student, I thought I’d never forget the syllabus, but after a few years away from Fred, I can’t remember half.

How much does it cost to run a class in a dance studio per hour?

I’m just looking for an average cost. I’m starting a Zumba class this fall and I am wondering what the typical rent is per hour at a dance studio. This is for a studio in Wisconsin if it makes any difference?

It depends on what the individual studio owners want.

I teach dance classes at two different studios, neither of which make me pay for using the room, but rather they pay me.
One has the students pay me directly, and the other studio has the administrator pay me by the hour.

When I rented a room at the community center it was $50 a month.

There is also a training facility down the road from me that has a dance room and they charge %20 of the instructors income off classes.

How much would it cost to go into a dance studio and ask them to make up a dance for a song of your choice?

Choreography takes a good deal of time and energy on the part of the choreographer. Therefore, this is not likely to be a cheap endeavor. If it were me, I would probably charge $300 minimum to choreograph something for someone who was not in my class and whom I had never met.

My advice would be to find someone who teaches choreography workshops in your area. It will be a lot cheaper in the long run if you can learn how to do your own choreography, and it will be your own original work. You’ll feel more accomplished, and have that knowledge under your belt. It’s very useful knowledge for a dancer of any variety to have.

first off i dont dance i have no interest in learning in dancng but I’ve always wondered…
Do people just walk in dance studios and dancing, or do they have rent it or is just for teachers or what?I awlays see Youtube vids of people dancing alone in a studio
As a studio I mean where they have that Mirror as a wall and brownish slippery floor

WHY they don’t carry donuts jk

Are there any dance competitions where you can compete in, without being affiliated with a dance studio?

Please help. I have been searching the internet for days but every dance compeitition that comes up tells you that you have to belong to a dance studio.
So, are there any dance competitions where you can compete in without belonging to dance studio?
If so, can you name one?

I’m almost positive that you can enter some competitions as "independent," which is basically on your own. I’m not sure which comps do that, but maybe you could check out ADA (American Dance Awards). I think they let people enter as independent. Maybe you could call the office of that comp? good luck!
